Mr. Snufflufugus is a five-year-old pup with a heart as big as his name. But recently, his life took a heartbreaking turn when he was abandoned and left to fend for himself on the streets of Copperas Cove, Texas.
Lost and frightened, he wandered the city, hoping someone would find him and offer the kindness he desperately needed.
Thankfully, the local animal control stepped in, rescuing the sweet boy and bringing him to the Copperas Cove Animal Control shelter.
A Hug That Melted Hearts
As soon as Mr. Snufflufugus arrived at the shelter, he showed his gratitude in the most touching way—a big, heartfelt hug.
“The moment he hugged us, we all melted,” said Tamara Hall, the animal control supervisor.
A staff member captured this emotional moment, and it wasn’t long before the photo went viral. People from all over shared his story, advocating for Mr. Snufflufugus to find his forever home.
“Victoria and I were in the play area with him when he decided he needed a hug,” Hall told The Dodo.
It quickly became clear that Mr. Snufflufugus was a true snuggle bug.
“If you’re sitting on the floor, he’ll climb into your lap or snuggle up next to you, looking up at you with those irresistible sweet eyes,” Hall added.
The Goodest Couch Potato
In addition to his love for hugs, Mr. Snufflufugus is a master at relaxation.
“He’d rather be a couch potato, getting head scratches, snuggling, and being told what a good boy he is,” shared Victoria, a shelter staff member, on Facebook.
This affectionate boy quickly won the hearts of everyone who met him.
A Famous Pup
After the Copperas Cove Police Department shared his story, Mr. Snufflufugus became a viral sensation. The shelter received an outpouring of love and countless adoption inquiries.
However, it was discovered that Mr. Snufflufugus needed to be in a single-pet home without small children. His strong attachment to people could make him protective in a busy household.
Given the shelter’s limited resources, they transferred him to Pit Squad Rescue in Minnesota. There, the team could carefully screen potential adopters and ensure he found the perfect home.
A Second Chance
At Pit Squad Rescue, Mr. Snufflufugus began treatment for heartworm—a condition requiring significant care and costly treatment.
Despite his challenges, this resilient pup continues to share his love with everyone he meets. His foster family has fallen head over heels for him, just as he has for them.
“This boy has been so grateful to everyone he comes in contact with,” Pit Squad Rescue shared. “Welcome to Pit Squad Rescue MN, Mr. Snufs! We cannot wait to find you your forever home.”
